CAL colour conundrum

Welcome to this week’s Bloomin’ Crochet-A-Long post!

My intention was to do one hexie a day from the kickoff of the CAL last Thursday...

So for all intents and purposes, today is Tuesday and I haven’t yet done my hexie. Hmmm.

But I hit a little wall, you see, and I need your help to get over it and get on with this project. Take a good look at the picture of those five hexies. I’m not crazy about the yellow one in the corner. It just doesn’t seem to fit right with the others, at least in my opinion. I’m just not happy with the deep teal centre. I want a softer colour there.

What to do? I couldn’t decide which shade would suit the yellow hexie, so I’m going to show you some options and ask you to vote for your favourite combination!

First, the line-up with pale green

Number two, the light aqua

And three, the pink one

What do you think? Obviously, I could whip up a hexie with each choice, but that takes up three days’ worth of hexie making, and I’m still stuck at Tuesday!

While I’m waffling about with colours, please visit the links below to see what others are hooking this week!

Thank you for your input, and happy crafting!

Chrissie x

  1. It's a rough one, but my first choice is real and then green and it's a definite no for pink. Hope this helps xx

  3. I like the green and the pink, not keen on the blue, and I agree that the teal seems to strong for the other colours on that hexie. Looking great though. Hope you are enjoying making them. xx

This is what I have been crocheting.

  6. My favourite is the first (I do have a weakness for green). I think the hexie you've made does work though and will look fab when it's surrounded by others :) xx

  10. Hi Chrissie I love all the colours you have chosen but I like the first combination better but that is only my opinion so you must follow your heart as this will be the right choice for you. Love your work Chrissie, fabulous. Have a great weekend and have fun

  11. I like all of them! Sorry, I know that isn't helpful. How about the green or aqua? I'm leaning slightly toward the aqua.

  12. You and me both, I am always a bit frightened of using yellow. Anyway I think blue because the green and yellow reminds me of a Marks and Spencer's broccoli quiche, even though my favourite colour is green! and I am not a fan of yellow and pink but hey it is your blanket so go girl, it is looking great with the other combos. Love Jo x

  13. I think my vote would be with the aqua....but then I would vote for any blues most times! Good luck with the decisions...

  14. I think it looks good as it is with the teal - and I think when it is part of the full blanket it will look great. But... if you really don't like it, then I think out of the three options the green looks good! (Picking colours can be so tricky, can't it?!)

  16. I'm going to suggest the paler shade of your mauve/purples for the centre Chrissie - look at your top middle hexe in the pic - please give it a try!
    Beautiful crochet work!

  17. Your hexies are gorgeous, I was torn between doing the African Flower or Attic24 but went with the later as I wanted to do a solid centre. I love the colours of option 2, they are so pretty. Have a great weekend. X
